Abstract	The article is devoted to the history of formation and development of the institute private prosecution in criminal proceedings in Ukraine. Separately paid to the allocation of the shortcomings in the approach to and understanding of the legal regulation of private prosecution in criminal proceedings, and the directions of their elimination.
